Pornois
2000 - 2005
A music-visual group formed by Ian Kornfeld, Seba Landro, Juan Rey, and Lucas Totino Tedesco, based in Buenos Aires. Originally initiated in 1997 by Kornfeld/Landro as a musical duo, by the year 2000 it had fully developed into an audiovisual band —a category that perhaps did not yet exist in the places where it operated (does it even exist today?). This particularity may have contributed to the rapid growth in the frequency of live performances, generating a constant creative feedback loop. From its first appearance, Pornois’ visual universe developed its own identity, evolving and expanding as performances continued to take place. In a short period of time, the group had already performed in many of Buenos Aires’ main and most diverse venues: museums, theaters, cultural centers, clubs, and festivals. In 2004, they released their CD *Ilumina al Mundo* through the Secsy Music / Locomotion Channel label, as a deluxe edition, and the album was selected among the best releases of the year by *Rolling Stone Argentina*. In 2005, the group was nominated for Best Emerging Band by MTV. But instead of winning the category and actually emerging, the band deactivated itself, remaining in the memory —sometimes accurate, sometimes blurred— of those who once saw and heard them perform live.
